Light a Candle
J. Rosser Jones (Lt. Colonel, retired USAF) was born in Columbus, Georgia on December 10, 1928. He passed away unexpectedly on May 4, 2011.
Rosser graduated from the University of Georgia in 1950 (BBA) where he was a member of the SAE Fraternity (and subsequent lifelong supporter). As an officer and Master Navigator in the USAF, Rosser recounted his many nightly missions navigating the B-29 Super Fortress off the coast of Vladivostok during the Korean War. Following his retirement from the USAF, Rosser acquired his Masters degree in Investments and then became a private businessman and investment wholesaler to brokerage houses throughout the state of Florida. Rosser loved the dynamics of his business world –always saying, “he never met a stranger”. His interest and talent in public speaking and leadership was cultivated by a long term membership with the Toastmasters International, eventually creating a Club in Fort Lauderdale. Rosser welcomed each day with open arms and cultivated a life-long passion for perfecting his tennis and ping pong games, an appetite for learning and sharing and socializing with his many beloved friends.
Rosser served on several local boards in Sarasota and supported and volunteered with many of the local theaters.
Rosser passed away unexpectedly on May 4, 2011.
He is predeceased by his mother and father Annie Laurie and Clarence (Columbus, GA) and his brother Clarence Jones, Jr. (Corpus Christi, TX), and his former wife Eleanor Williams.
He is survived by his step daughter June Williams (Sarasota) and his adoring and loving wife of 7 years, Dee Jones.
